Description
Silver oxide is a brown-brown cubic crystal or brown-black powder. When heated to 250°C, silver oxide begins to decompose and release oxygen. Decomposes rapidly above 300°C. It is insoluble in water, but very easily soluble in nitric acid, ammonia water, potassium cyanide, sodium thiosulfate and other solutions. Its ammonia solution will precipitate strong explosive silver nitride or silver imino after being stored for a long time. In organic synthesis, it is often used to replace the halogen with the hydroxyl group, or as an oxidant. Mainly used as a chemical synthesis catalyst. It is also used in electronic device materials, such as zinc-silver oxide batteries.
